Hi there,

We usually use disposable diapers but I'd really like to get some cloth swim diapers for this summer.

Hope, Mommy to Spencer Expecting Baby #2 09/17/12

I've had a lot of generic cloth swim diapers and Imse Vimse over the years. They all seemed to work fine. The drawback is usually, if baby poops, you have top pull the whole diaper down because they have no side closures or only one side closure (Imse Vimse). I'm switching to Bummis swim diaper this year because it closes in front like a regular diaper. DS is still really young so there is high probability he will poop in the pool. You will probably need two swim diapers for that reason. Keep in mind that cloth swim diapers only keep the poop in not the pee. The legs and waist should fit snugly to keep all the poo in. So whatever fits your child the best is the right choice.

If you are using public pools then you might want to check their regulations. Some are very specific (mine like a disposable swim diaper under a tight fitting washable swim diaper), and even if a cloth swimmer might work just as well, you might be trying to convince a teenage lifeguard!
