I have resorted to using disposables as I have never had any success CD'ing newborns. Any advice??

With my oldest DD I had the same problem.. blowouts and leaks when she was too little.. everything leaks out the legs and up the back of the diaper. I have encountered the same problem with my new DD who is 3 weeks old.

I'll be interested in the responses as well. We just started CD'ing with Connor at 7.5 months, but he's just our first lol! So when the next one comes along, as I've heard the same complaints about newborns & CDs, I'll be interested to see what others do! :)

I especially loved CDing a newborn, but those tiny people need some special stuff.

I echo the love for Kissaluvs size 0....they were my first used diapers when DD was born. we had either 5 or 7, I can't remember and I LOVED them! we used prefolds otherwise, I was never creative with the folds, but always used a snappi. Covers were mostly prowraps but I also had a couple organic Imse Vimse covers, but they were BIG.

A lot of the larger companies have come out with newborn and smaller sized pockets (some are similar to the one-size pockets that are popular, in other words they go from like 5-18 pounds with a few extra snaps) and those might be a good option. I would certainly go with a hook and loop waist as opposed to snaps, would be easier to get a better fit for the LOs.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I always had some blowout issues before too but this time we've had no problems. I usually don't even use a cover (we only have wool pull ons anyway). I'm using the orange edge GMD newborn prefolds snappied, or kissaluvs size 0. My favorite diaper is the Tinkle Trap though, they are prefolds converted to a fitted. They fit so well.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm not sure what to do. I guess the prefolds I have are indian infants (not newborn), but I tried a different fold today.. the angel wing fold.. and felt that it was really inside the cover.

I've had to strip covers before but only because they were enclosed PUL. BSWW isn't enclosed. I'm guessing there are gaps around her legs that let the urine leak out? There are probably covers that fit thin legs better. Over stuffing a PUL cover can also cause a gap there. That usually happens at night though when parents use doublers to try and soak up more urine. Are you changing her every 2 hrs or less?
