I've been CDing my DS since birth, and we haven't really had any issues until now (he's 8 months old now).

I wouldn't worry much at all about bulk overnights, you want him to be comfortable and not leak out, he's not going to notice the bulk. What fabric are the doublers? Hemp and Bamboo are really absorbant and don't add a lot of bulk. They also aren't nonos against the skin (like micro-fiber such as many inserts for pocket diapers). Another thought is a different cover. You could probably get by with 2 or 3 which wouldn't add a ton of cost. Covers like the Weehuggers or Booroi where the insert tucks into the diaper (not like a pocket, it's still the only source of soaking things up) but is pocketed on all sides by PUL, might just work. I have two Booroi covers for my DD and I ADORE them, I can't say it enough! You could also try a liner like the Thirsties Duo stay-dry combo liner that's part microfiber/fleece and part hemp. my super heavy wetter doesn't leak out hardly at all with those. And you could still add another hemp doubler to it.

Hope you can figure something out.

In the past our method was Happy Hempy hemp pocket diaper, the fleece inner stays dry against the skin, stuffed with a prefold and a hemp doubler.
