My little girl is 10 weeks old and I am starting back to work in a week and a half.  I currently pump 6 times a day for about 10 minutes and get about 40ish oz.  I started doing just 6 pumps within the last week, but I have always done between 6 and 8 and was never consistant.  I'm just trying to get ready since I will not be able to pump as much at work.  Also all of the LC i worked with in the hospital where not very confident in my ablity to just pump, telling me I'd dry up, instead of giving me much advice (like i choose to have it this way!?!?!)  SOO  looking on this form it seems maybe I wasn't pumping long enough and might dry up because I only pump 10 mins?  Should i pump longer if I'm going to cut down the number of times I pump?  How does one go about cutting down?  How long before you know if your supply will drop?  HELP!!!

My babies are 12 weeks. I dropped to 5x a day at 10 weeks when I went back to work. Once in AM before work, 2x at work, once in the evening and once at night. I produce about 55-60oz a day still but I pump for 20-25 minutes each time. I usually have 3rd let down right before 20 minutes. Yes, pump longer if you cut down the number of times. You can always increase your supply if it starts to drop by adding a pumping for a few days and taking fenugreek (or if you are already taking it, up your dosage) - also look at how much water you are drinking and make sure you are getting enough to eat. They say at 3 months you should stabilize and it will be less of a concern. I'm almost there!
