is it too late to increase supply?

I've been exclusively breastfeeding since Anna was about 6 weeks old (when I went back to work). Initially, I was using a hospital grade pump 8 times a day and taking mothers milk supplements. Despite this, I wasn't making enough milk and began supplementing with 1-2 bottles of formula a day. Over the months, I got lazy with pumping and now (at 5.5 months), I pump 3-4 times a day for 30 minutes a time. My supply went down but not dramatically with the decreased pumping sessions so I felt it was OK considering how much more time I could spend with Anna.

Some people do have luck increasing supply later. Have you checked out the tips in the beginner's guide for ideas? I would think it would at least be worth a shot. Not sure if renting the pump would be worth the $, but again you might want to do it. Some people say you can't pump long term with a freestyle, but it worked for me for a year. However, nothing is comparable to a hospital pump. Sorry I can't tell you for sure. I hope things work out!
