Hi ladies, I'm new to the board but I wish I would've joined sooner.

My cousin had low fat BM.

When my LO was in the NICU they fortified my BM with formula. If you are worried about the weight gain maybe add a scoop of formula to you BM. This will give your LO a few extra calories. We did this for a few weeks after he came home as well.

I would argue against your LC's opinion that pumps in general "don't get the fat out".

Have you tried pumping for longer times at each pump? For me, the foremilk (low fat content) is basically my first letdown and that takes about 10-15 minutes to pump. I have a second let down around the 15-18 minute mark and that seems to include a much higher fat content. Breast compressions will also help move the milk down.

If your daughter is healthy other than the low-ish weight gain (and your doctor isn't concerned) it probably isn't that big of a deal. You're providing her with the best stuff on earth and cheers to you for doing so! :-)
