Bailey is almost 6 weeks and has been getting EBM for about a month now. Since she has been taking the BM via bottle she spits up all the time, I am not used to this because my DS never spit up and I EPed for him too!! The thing is she can go a whole day and not spit up at all and then the next day spit up gallons it seems(like today!!). She currently takes 4.5 ounces every 3 hours(to the minute) except for about one 4-5 hour stint at night. I have to make sure and burp her after every ounce or it seems to be worse but sometimes that doesn't even matter. She doesn't have a doc appointment for another 2 weeks. What do y'all think?

She most definetly is gaining weight so I'm not worried about that at all. It is nice to know that I am not alone though, it is so annoying lol!! Her last feeding I changed the nipple to slow flow and she has been great since, right now she is even going past her usual 3 hour span between feedings. Hopefully this will be the cure:)

My daughter was like that too. We recently had a dr visit with a Gastroenterologist- we think most of the spit up is reflux and so he put her on a reflux medicine (zantac) and we now add rice cereal to the milk to thicken it (I would not recommend this unless you get the OK from a pedatrician or dr.- my daughter is now almost 5 months). Something we also used to do many weeks ago was mix a little bit of formula for spit up into the breastmilk which also helped to thicken it- I think we did 1/2tsp per 2 oz.

my daughter is almost 4 weeks and a spitter..she seems to spit up everything..but it always looks like more than it is..she's gaining weight fine and seems to be a little butterball..LOL..I have to change her clothes and mine several times a day because sometimes I forget the urp rag and I won't put bibs on her yet because I fear she'll strangle herself..She actually has to sleep sitting up because when she lays down she spits up and chokes..we've had a few scares..it may be reflux youre dealing with or normal spitting up..my second son was a spitter too and it scared me for a while(some days it was like the exorcist I swear)..as long as they gain weight I don't think theres a prob but ask the doc next time you see them just to be sure..They may do a belly ultrasound just to rule out something like pyloric stenosis(my son had that scan done when he was 4 weeks old)..its not a common codition and most likely you have nothing to worry about.
