Charlie turned 1 on April 16. As you can see we had a great day.
What a great day we had!
On tuesday Charlie got sent home because he was running at temp. Of course it is just teething but it seems his temp gets really high when a tooth is just about to pop. So we had to abid by the 24 hour and stay home today. Actually we didn't stay home we went to the zoo with the neighbor kids and then later that day some of the kids came by and played ball in the front yard. It was fun. I felt bad that Charlie wasn't able to celebrate at DC today, which was the originial plan but we did have fun.
He kept me so busy I was not able to get online till now to share with you guys. It is really hard to believe that a year ago today Charlie came charging into this world. I was checked into the hospital because I noticed some fluid leakage. I thought it was nothing but they hooked me up to potocin and got everything started. The Doc said that I would have the baby in about 12 hours - we were looking at 2:00 am. Well, that would mean Charlie would have been a Wednesday baby (full of woe) and call me silly I could not do that. Well, I was told the epidural would slow stuff down. Wrong. I got my Epidural at 3.5 cms and within the hour I was ready to go. Charlie was born at 4:25 pm. Very curtious of Charlie because the Doc had dinner plans. Well, he was a pretty baby and very alert. He was ready to see the world right from the start. Even the Doc and Nurses were surprised at how alert and smiley he was minutes after the birth. It is really tremendous when I look back at where we have been and where we are now. The miscarriage and the scares of being pregnant again became a distant memory when I got to hold a smiling little boy in my arms. The look of thanks for the good stuff I was giving him while trying to breast feed. The frustration and guilt of not being able to produce enough for him. The friends I made along the way. The great school he goes to and the milestones he leaps over just makes me so glad that I am a mom and most of all that he calls me Mommy. I am so proud of him now I can only imagine what the future will hold.
So a looking at today. He has about 10 words in his vocabulary, when he wants to say them. He loves playing especially with older kids. He walks all the time. He just amazes me every day.
I have some pictures I took today.
