Amount of milk versus amount of pumping time

Hi all

I am a new Eping mom. My baby is currently 6 weeks old and I have been Eping for 3 weeks now. I used to pump for 270 minutes per day for about 9 to 10 times and would get about 40 oz a day. Recently, I have discovered a way to letdown faster and so I have shortened the pumping times (about 170 minutes perday) without changing the amount of milk output. Will that compromise my milk output in the long run? I would like to maintain my milk output. Which is more important, getting the amount of milk or having a longer pumping time ?

THanks so much for your help in answering my question!

Hi!  I have read that if you have not seen a decrease in supply after a few weeks on the new pumping schedule, you should be ok in regards to maintaining your current output of milk.  Hope that helps!

I think you should be fine! 170 minutes per day is still a lot. You might want to see how your body reacts over the next couple of weeks, but it sounds like you are pumping a lot. Good luck!
