Baby's name and age: Baby Clay is 3 weeks old tomorrow

How long have you been exclusively pumping? About 3-4 days

How long do you plan to keep it up? He has surgery for his cleft lip on June 13th, so I would like to at least build up a freezer stash that will last us that long.

I'm a newbie! My 3rd baby, Joanna, was born 6 weeks ago with a rare condition called arthrogryposis. She has some joint contractures and low muscle tone in her mouth and throat that makes it impossible for her to eat orally (breast or bottle). She was hospitalized until a week ago today, and had surgery for a g-tube into her stomach a little over a week ago. Since she was 2 days old and it because obvious she wasn't going to be able to breastfeed, I've been EP'ing. This is brand new to me! I value breastmilk highly and was able to nurse my daughter (now almost 5yo) until she was 4 and my son (now almost 3yo) until he was 2.5. I even tandem nursed them for 18 months.

I am trying to figure out this pumping thing while simultaneously grieving the loss of a nursing relationship with my last baby. I'm sure I'm not the only member on here who has had to go through this grief.

Baby's name and age:

Joanna, 6 weeks

How long have you been exclusively pumping?

Since she was 2 days old

How long do you plan to keep it up?

At least a year, maybe two

What is the best thing about pumping?

I suppose the fact that my husband is able to help more. With our other two, I did more of the baby care and he did more of the housework. This time around, it's more evenly distributed.

Anything you'd like to tell about yourself?

I'm currently a SAHM to my three kids, but previously I was an elementary school teacher and Reading specialist. Until my baby was born 6 weeks ago, I also ran a private tutoring business out of my home.

When I'm not pumping or taking care of baby, you might find me...

playing with or taking care of my older two. At the moment, all of those things is feeling like more than I can handle!

Any pumping tips that have made your life easier that you would like to share?

I'm putting pump parts in the fridge for 24 hours, then switching them out. I'm also using olive oil to reduce the friction and using pumping time as my computer or reading time. I'm loving the u-shaped Medela trays for managing the milk.

Any pumping tips that have made your life easier that you would like to share?Definitly going hands free is a life saver, and getting larger horns has really helped alot! Oh and frezzing your bags laying flat!

Baby's name and age: Josephine, 3 1/2 weeks old

How long have you been exclusively pumping? I'm seriously considering it, since we've been having issues with weight gain and nursing since birth, and after finding out at the end of last week that she was still 7 oz below her birthweight, we had a pumping/feeding frenzy over the weekend and she gained 14 oz!
