DOM tapering off???

Hello Ladies,

My LO is 8 mo and I started DOM two months ago when I was having a supply issue. It worked like a miracle for the first month and now it seems to not work at all! I'm an AVP and I started with 120 mg of DOM and increased to this last week to 160mg. I don't know what else to do. I tried giving LO formula from different brands and she won't take it. I am super stressed right now because I pump and get about 2 to 3 ounces every 3hrs...I power pumped and nothing has worked.

Anything else I should do??? Anyone has had issues with giving their baby formula? How long did it take?

Your supply drop could be related to a hormone change because you are so far post partum. If you keep pumping more you may be able to get your supply back up. I had a big supply drop at six months PP and started taking Dom to get it back. The Dom didn't work well until I did a pump marathon one weekend. (I pumped every hour for 15 minutes with two extra hour long power pumps for the full weekend taking two four hour sleep breaks) Even with all that, I still have to supplement one or two bottles a day with formula.

If you have introduced cereals, try mixing your cereal with formula to see if she'll take it that way. Also try a different type of bottle or nipple when offering formula. Sometimes a faster flow nipple will help.

Just trying different brands may not help if you are trying similar types of formula from different brands-they may have similar tastes. Breastmilk is really sweet so your daughter may be craving a sweeter taste in formula. You can also try slowing adding formula to your milk in half-ounce intervals until you've worked up to a full bottle. I've heard of people adding stuff to formula to make it sweeter but I'd want to check with my MD before doing anything like that.

Here is a link to a formula taste-test to give you some ideas:

If you are offering really healthy, high protein

thanks for the info...I got my LO to take formula yesterday! I just kept trying and didn't really force it. She took the similac concentrated formula. I'm so relieved yet also disappointed but the pressure is off a bit!
