Milk supply issues
Wed, 07-24-2013 - 5:44pm

Hi, I have a 3 month old baby that was born early and spent 6 weeks in the nicu. During that time I pumped milk for him while he was in the hospital. I had a great supply for the first 8 weeks could pump 30oz in 24hr

I'm and exclusive pumper because he still gets too tired to BF. Over the past 4 weeks my milk supply has been decreasing to the point that I am only getting about 1oz both b's combined with each pumping session.   I have seen a lactation specialist, I did a power pumping boot camp and power pump once a day, eat everything that I can find  online that will increase milk supply, had my prolactin levels checked were a little low but not bad, had an ultrasound to check for retained placenta..ect the list goes on and on. I even have a hospital grade pump.

I just don't understand why my milk would decrease so much and everything I have tried to increase it doesn't seem to help.

Looking for suggestions!! Thanks a bunch!

Hi Amanda,

You've tried so much- you must be getting frustrated!  I'd like to suggest you visit our Breastfeeding Support board.  While I know you are EPing, the Community Leader there has a ton of experience and I'm sure she'll have great tips to share with you.  I hope you find something soon that helps with your supply issues!
