hello, my name is amber. i have an 11 day old daughter (she is the second child, also have a son who will be 4 next month) and i've been exclusively pumping since day 4. i am so glad to have found this forum, it's nice to know there are other women out there who also do this. our (ex) pediatrician gave me a really hard time about pumping instead of BFing so it's good to know i can go somewhere for support.

Hey Amber.

I am glad that you found the site. It helped with my first one, and now I am pumping for my second daughter, who is 2 weeks old today.

Here is my experience. for the first 5 days I pumped every 2 hours for 20 minutes... It was killing me, especially having 2 LO's. I was getting a lot of milk, so I decided to cut back to 5 pumps, one of which is in the middle of the night. My supply didn't move too much. I am producing about 50oz a day. I was an over producer for my first daughter, and I guess I am that way again. I am pumping for 30 minutes now, and It seems to be going fine. If you drop pumps and you notice a change in your supply, you can always power pump to increase it. Power pumping is basically pumping as much as you can for as long as you can in a 24 hour period. I did this with my first. I would pump for 5-10 minutes every 3o minutes to an hour. There are some great articles online about Power Pumping. You can also eat things to help with your supply like oats and brewers yeast.

I hope this helps and good luck.
