I exclusively pump & arm going on a road trip with my 2 month old.  I have refrigerated breast milk I want to bring.  Does anyone know how long the milk will be good on ice packs in a cooler?  Or does anyone have ideas on how to keep milk good for longer?  I have several bottles worth of milk that I don't want it to go bad.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Hi there,

I just did a google search to see what I could find.  Here's an article about traveling with breast milk that has a few good tips- http://www.livestrong.com/article/238787-how-to-travel-with-baby-milk/

On Kellymom I also saw a suggestion that gel packs work best at keeping things frozen longer.  May be something to try!  Good luck!

Freshly expressed BM in a cooler is good for 24 hours.  Freshly expressed BM on its own is good for 3-5 hours.  It's probably a good idea to bring some bottles just in case, but it'll be easiest to just give baby what you've freshly pumped.  Good luck!  Travelling with LO's is hard enough on its own.  We just got back from a road trip and although there were a few stressful moments we all had a blast! :)
