I'm new to this. I've been pumping exclusively due to latch issues. My baby is 4 wks old. Eating 3-4 oz. I have an abundance of milk in my freezer now. Not sure if I keep on pumping at 3 hr intervals or decrease for a few days. Does this make sense? Please help getting stressed :smileyhappy:

I wouldn't drop too quickly, though I was down to 7 pumps at 2 months and 6 pumps at 3 months. Now I am close to 5 months with 5 pumps. I even dropped the motnp before the 12 weeks. My supply actually increased as I dropped pumps b/c I added time to the other pumps. We were having a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, so I have to pump longer when I go longer between pumps. I would wait until after the 6 week growth spurt to decide what to do. After that, they usually settle into how much they eat every day. Because the rate of growth slows as they get bigger, you won't need to add much after the 6 week growth spurt. We went from 26 to 29 ozs per day about that time and are still eating that same amount.

The begginingers guide reccomends pumping 8-10 times a day for the first 12 weeks. I pumped 60 ounces when I did this so I quickly dropped pumps. I did 8 pumps a day for a couple weeks, then 6 for a few weeks and then dropped a pump every 4 weeks or so. I am 20 weeks pp and pump 2 x a day and get 45 ounces! you can try to drop pumps and if you dont get a big supply hit, stick with it!
