Anyone able to maintain supply while on hormonal (estrogen-containing) birth control ?? If not, what dud you use and did you like it?

i made the mistake of getting the depo shot. and have had my supply shrink. i was pumping around 35 ounces per day and am now pumping 25-26 ounces. i just no longer have a surplus. so i'm just producing enough too feed baby. and i'm having to pull out all the stops just to keep that.
i'm assuming you are not interested in permanent BC. i just had the essure procedure done. (it takes three months for the procedure to be effective. the depo was for the in-between time) any way i recommend the essure procedure if you want a permanent option. no hormones involved.

as for temporary options. i've heard that with some women they can increase the supply but then others see a decrees. you were smart to ask around first. this was my fatal mistake. i just assumed my ob would have told me that this could happen. i'm getting ready to give up. it's just been to much work to maintain this supply. it's really effecting my quality of life now.

i would suggest trying a pill. just to see how it effects you. you can always stop taking them if your supply drops.

goodluck. i hope you find a more optimistic outcome!

I have been taking the mini pill for a month now and haven't seen any decrease in milk supply....yet. :) So far, I like it.

Is the minipill (non-estrogen containing) an option for you?

I think I could take the mini pill. I will ask for it when I go next time. Thank you all for input!
