Let down question

I'm on day 4 of EPing. My daughter is currently 3 weeks old feeding every 3-4 hours. I'm pumping 9-11 times a day for 10-15 minutes each session (double pumping with the Ameda Elite). Up until today I've only been able to get one let down within a minute of pumping. Then I read of other mom's being able to get 2-3 let downs per session so have been playing around more with the pump to see how I can get my second let down. It seems like the only way I can get a second let down quickly is by turning the machine off completely and letting my breast rest for 2-3 minutes and then turn the machine back on again. When I do this, I'm able to get a second let down in about 2 minutes. But I'm actually not getting all that much from this second let down - maybe 1/2oz. Does this happen for anyone else? Does anyone else get a second let down this same way or am I just doing it all wrong? I'e tried sitting there with the breast pump going for 15 minutes after my breast have been emptied after the 1st let down and nothing happens.

Most often a 1st letdown is fairly quickly after starting a pumping session, those that get 2-3 or sometimes even more are those who pump for a period longer than 20 minutes...most times.

For the last couple of sessions I've been pumping for an additional 10 minutes or so. I think I now know how to get a second let down. But I'm only getting an additional .5oz from the second let down. So I guess my question is if I continue on, will I eventually be able to get more milk from the second let down? Or is it just better if I pump an additional session. In the long term, which is better for building strong milk production and maintaining supply?

The more sessions you have in a day the better since every time you empty your breasts your body begins to produce more milk to fill them again.
