I went through weeks of being miserable over pumping, so I understand, and I don't even have other children to manage.

Trust me, I am right there with ya! I don't have other children, but I count my husband as one. You are so lucky to have a super helpful husband! I have gone thru everything you're going thru right along with you. I've been on dom for about a week and it seems to be helping a little but not to the extent I had hoped. I'm going to give it a few more weeks but if I don't start making more milk, I can't justify all the stress it causes for a bottle a day. I am really upset because I wanted to delay vaccines but I don't feel right about it with her being formula fed. :( I pray that she doesn't turn out sickly because of it. Hubby has an amazing immune system so I just hope she gets that. She doesn't tolerate formula as well as BM so that upsets me as well. I just keep thinking, a few more weeks, and trudge thru. If you do end up not pumping anymore, you're not a failure. You went way beyond what most would do and you gotta do what's best for you and your family. Good luck :)

If it makes you feel any better, I nursed my 1st for 6 months and she had nothing but ear infections. I nursed my 2nd for 3 months and he didn't get sick any more than she did! Less, actually. Go figure.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. It really helps to hear that its not for lack of dedication. I think I'm leaning towards stopping for the sake of my family's sanity. It makes me sad, but I'm trying to focus on all three of my children, rather than holding on to an arbitrary deadline I set for myself. I'll keep pumping to stay comfortable and try to be grateful for what I get.

Just like mrsblankenship said, what it comes down to I think is whether or not the amount of stress you're dealing with is acceptable. I cannot imagine doing what you're doing with more than one child! I am 7 weeks pp with my first and he is - knock on wood - an easy baby, and I still struggle to get my 7 pumps in everyday. And I overproduce milk! You are an absolute champ!!! Please don't be hard on yourself if it's time to stop and it's sooner than you had planned or hoped. As with everything baby, it really is day by day, isn't it? If you do keep going, just remember that: day by day. Small goals are the easiest to reach and are so motivating. I have an 'ideal duration' for my EPing career but I set a goal each day just to get through that day.

Either way, like I said, please don't be hard on yourself. If you're feeling like you're miserable and missing out on happiness with your new LO and older children, you are in a position to change that. It just comes down to deciding which pros outweigh the cons.

Congrats to you for being as strong as you have been and good luck with whichever choice you make.

Oh, good for you! You really are a trooper! :))) I actually read somewhere that when you make less BM (or when baby breastfeeds less) the amount of antibodies and nutrients in BM increases, so even that bottle and a half will do a lot of good for your LO! I'm so glad you stopped stressing, may be you will even see an increase in your supply now. Hope you make your goal!
