Pisa question

Have been using pisa for the past two months. Lo turned 13 weeks yesterday. I had a decent supply with about 40oz per day. I have dropped to 4 pumps since last weekmand my supply has dropped to about 36oz. It most probably is because of dropping a session but i am concerned that it could be due to the pump too. I am having to increase the suction on the pump every few weeks. I am near the highet level at the moment. I bought it on amazon and they sent me a replacement pump. The replacement pump was the same. I had to use very high setting to empty breast fully. Dont know what is wrong. I worry because in a month i will leave for India where pumps are not tht common. I really dont want anything going wrong with the pump at that time :( because of my familiarity i am thinking of returning the replacement pump and keeping my original pump for now. Would appreciate any advise if someone has faced similar issues with pisa :(

I had a freestyle, but the same thing happened to me. At first I used low suction, but around 12 weeks I was putting it all the way up to the highest setting by the end of a pump. However, I took it to a place that rented pumps and they used a special gauge to check the suction and it turned out it was fine. I had experienced a drop in supply as well, and I thought it was due to the pump, but there was nothing wrong with it. In retrospect, I think it was because I dropped my night pump too soon (had not found this board yet) and it took a couple of weeks to catch up with me. I think perhaps some people's bodies just get used to the suction? That's the only explanation I could think of in my case because the pump tested fine. It can take a couple of weeks to notice a supply difference when you drop a pump, so you might be right that that is the culprit for the drop. It sounds like your supply is still very good. I never made that much per day and still made it to a year without having to supplement once my milk came in. You are so lucky to be down to 4 times already--good for you! I couldn't go to 4 till around 9 months.

I recently found out that its important to take them off whie cleaning. I have started doing that but there isnt really a tear so I havent replaced it yet. Do you think its important to replace even without any tear ? How often should they be replaced in that case?

Pallavi,

offtopic question - Did you buy an adapter for the India trip? If so where did you order it from. Also, since you make the same amount of milk that I do, I thougth I would ask you a question. What do you plan on doing with the extra milk while you are in India? I know freezers and refrigeration is not a possibility there. One of the main reasons I do not want to go to India this year is my milk concerns. :)! Thought I would just check with you on your plans :)! Thank you :)!

Havent bought a separate adapter. The one that came with Pisa shuld be good. You would just need a converter to plug the adapter in. As far as supply goes, i am really keeping m fingers crossed. I mostly give LO fresh milk and freeze the extra. Hoping i can continue doing that in India. Meaning i am able to make enough to give him fresh milk and then at least refrigerate the ret even if I am not able to freeze. In that case, he will get his milk but i might have to end up not using the extra at all. Worst case, i found out that there is a milk bank in mumbai. Will find out from them how they function. Hopefully will arrive at some arrangement with them so that I dont have to waste any. After working so hard to build supply....last thing i want is to waste a drop!:)
