Recurring mastitis... and supply loss

So I am 15 weeks PP and I already cut down to 3 pumps/day. With 6 and 4/ day i was getting around 48-52oz/day. I wound up throwing away almost half of my supply, and really wanted to cut down supply and # of pumps... So, around the same time I made it to 3x/day, I decided to start working out.. I put on 2 sports bras and felt pretty secure... and wound up running 5 minutes on the treadmill.. So I'm guessing that a combo of the running and the cutting down pumps gave me a bad case of mastitis... 2 in a row.. and I think I'm developing another little one now... I worked through them.. but lost half of my supply in that one side... I've tried to pump 4x/day... and instead of getting 1 oz/hour in my left boob... I'm probably getting half of that.. on one side only... My right side is the same as it was... but now my boobs look lop-sided too... SO i guess, my question is... How can I get my supply equal on both sides again? will my supply return on that one side?

IMO it's all the cutting out of pumps that is giving you infections, not working out.

Let me know when you figure it out! I'm in the exact same boat as you and have been this way since December. Seems when I dropped to 4x/day the trouble started for me. I don't make quite as much as you (around 42 oz/day) but am having a really hard time and have been at this for almost 10 months. It's frustrating. Since December I've had really bad mastitis once (took two different antibiotics), then a milder case not too long after (another round of antibiotics) and now a couple weeks later I'm all clogged up and stalling at the pump again. The trouble I'm having is figuring out when it's mastitis and when it's just nipple trauma from pumping and they just lock up and don't empty. I can hand express some so I know they are full - just stall and swell at the pump.

When this happens the only way I can get all the milk out is to pump at least 6x a day and I work fulltime and just can't do it. I've been to several doctors and recently a breast specialist. All the specialist had to offer was to say maybe "mild" mastitis but the pump causes more trauma then we know. Well, great lady. thanks for nothing. That's not solving my problem...apparently no doctor can figure it out which really makes me question the medical profession!!!

Yes! Your supply should return. I had mastitis in one breast in early Feb and at the worst point, I could barely pump out 5ml (1oz = 30ml) from the affected side. I didn't do anything special, just increased my number of pumps to 7/day and kept at it even if next to nothing was coming out. It took about a month but supply is now completely back to normal.
