Loosing supply fast...what can I do?!

I had posted about my problem earlier, but unfortunately have not gotten much response...anyway, with not being able to empty properly for a couple of days, it's getting much much worse!!! My problem breast got clogged up all over, had a lot of pain. After two days of constant warm compresses and massages I think the clogs are finally gone, and looks like my supply is gone with them! I went from producing 50oz a day to almost 30oz, even though I'm pumping even longer now! It makes me completely miserable! How could that happen so fast?! I've had to deal with clogs since my pumping carrier started, but never had that much milk lost. I just don't understand why this would happen to me now. I was so comfortable at 4#, was thinking to drop to 3# some time soon, since my son is going to be 8 months old. I was also donating to two other families. And it's all seems completely out of reach now! I don't know what to do, is it even possible to get my supply back up at this point? I'm desperate! All hard pumping moms out there, please, I need your suggestions!!!

please don't stress that will hurt your supply even more..

this is perfectly normal to take a drop in oz after a clog.. it will return back to normmal.. you may just need to do some power pumping.. give it a week or two and you should be back to normall.. keep in mind if you did not feel comfy at 4 pumps I would not suggest going to 3.. then you may have a lot more clogs.. are you on lectithin.. you should take it daily to help prevent

I take lecithin every day, morning and night. I still always got clogs once in awhile, it's just how my breasts are. My mom actually had to stop breastfeeding early on because she just kept getting infections...but I never lost that much in my supply, like we are talking 20 oz in just two days! Do you really think it will get to normal? I started power pumping today, and also I'll just try to pump more often for a couple of days. It did help me with supply before, but I was only around 12 weeks pp then. I went to 4# at about 6 months and have been pretty comfortable since then. Do you think I could go back to 4# once my supply is up again? Or should I stay at 5# or 6# and drop it slowly again?..I'm so confused...

Thank you for your response! I'm gonna try getting up pumping sessions and do some power pumping, see if that helps. My son still eats more then 30 oz, more like 36 most days, even though we started solids at 6 months. Plus I want to have some freezer stash for emergencies. I'm really hoping that I will get my supply back...As for the clogs, I was always getting them, even when pumping 6-7 times a day. It actually got better at 4#, since I lost probably close to 10 oz on the way from 7#.

Hi just saw your pp and I have had same problems with clogs and slower emtying on Left sidee....Once, I had a "clogged nipple pore" which then proceded to clog the duct...

What happens is that the milk dries in the nipple pore( the small holes the milk squirts out of

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! It helps to know I'm not the only one dealing with this problem. My lefty was always a slower one to let down and produced less milk. But this time a whole bunch of problems came into the picture. Now that you mentioned a clogged nipple pore, it looks to me that was exactly what I had! I mean that's how it started this time. Because a couple of days ago I noticed some white piece on the tip of my nipple. I didn't know what it was, just left it alone, continued pumping, massage, hot compresses, because I was trying to get rid of all those clogs! Finally the clogs were gone, and I noticed that this white piece was also gone! And now the milk flowing much much faster!!! Actually the lefty caught up with the righty! As for the supply I'm trying to get it back without any supplements for now. Did a pupmathon for three days ( was pumping every two hours and once in the MOTN). Now just back to every three hours. Looks like my supply is coming back slowly. Just not sure how fast I can come back to 4 pumps again, without loosing what I have left :) but we are going on vacation in the beginning of September, so I don't want to be stuck in the room with the pump :)))
