Hi all!

I am an exclusive pumper, and my son is just shy of 6 months.

Hi Amie

I can't comment on the Symphony pump because I haven't used one but wow are you ever lucky to be able to maintain a good supply with such short pumping times. It may be that you have a really quick letdown. Are you empty at the end of 10-15 minutes? Anyway, as you start to drop pumps you will probably find that you need to increase your pumping time per pump in order to empty fully and still maintain your supply. The rule of thumb is a minimum of 120 min of pumping per 24 hours. Good luck dropping pumps...life gets soooo much better. Great job making it to

I rented a Symphony pump for the first 8 days after my daughter was born. I then bought a PISA which I now use but I didn't notice a single difference b/w the two pumps. They felt the same and I produced the same. So anyways, I pump 5 times per day for 12-15 min and get 40 oz. a day. The last post mentioned that having a fast letdown could be a reason and I get a let down after the frist 5-10 seconds so maybe there is some truth in it, but I'm not sure. While I have a good supply now, I'm scared to drop another pump too because when I went from 6 to 5 times a day I took a 10 oz. hit. If that happens again I won't produce enough to meet my daughters needs. Hope this helps and good luck!

I'm using a symphony and think it is better than the Latina that wic gave me. I used one while my baby was in the hospital and seen a big difference. I pump ever 4 hours for about 20 min or sometimes longer depending on what i have to get done otherwise. My baby is 18 weeks and drinks about 160mls every 4 hours and sleeps from 10pm till 6 a.m. Yes I do think the symphony is better by far.

Hi,
I've been renting Symphony for the past 6 months and my experience is very different from yours. I pump 5 times per day, 25-30 min each time and I get around 24 oz per day. I used to pump 6 times for the first couple of months but even then never less then 20 min per session. My supply did decrease because I stopped pumping at nignt. Did you drop pumps since your post in July? In my case, when I tried going to 4 pumps, the supply suffered quiet a bit.

I am currently pumping 5 times per day, my son has just turned 7 months. In the past month, I stopped taking my domperidone and I saw a loss of about 8-10 oz per day. Then I started only pumping 5 times a few weeks ago, and lost another couple of ounces per day. I still am making a wee bit more than my son needs, so I am tempted to drop to 4 pumps, but as you confirmed, I may take another big hit.

For me, all my milk is pumped out in the first 10-12 minutes. If I stayed hooked up longer, I would have miniature letdowns at some point, but would only get drops of milk.
