I have been pumping since my daughter was about a month old, exclusively pumping since she was about two months. She is now nine months and I have a ginormous freezer stash saved and have been weaning myself. I am currently down to two pumps, one in the morning, one before bed. Now that I am down to only these two, it hurts so bad to pump! My nipples are severely dry and cracked. I am even to the point of decreasing the pump suction (whatever you call it!). I have not had this problem at all since I have been pumping until now. I am still using the lanolin, like I always have. I would think that since I am doing it less it would not be doing this. I would like to continue the two pumps until mid-September or even October, her first birthday, if I continue to get enough to be worth it. Is this normal?! Any remedies to help? I am in a lot of pain!
I would check with a doctor. It sounds more like skin problem then damage from pumping.
what are you use for washing (body/pumping parts)? if you changed something in your washing routine recentrly it might be the reason.
Yes it is safe for the baby. I´ve been doing that for 6 months with no problem... (I read it on this board)
You can also try putting lanolin in your nipples
Have you tried to put olive oil in the horns?
