Picky Eater Formula Help

Hi Ladies! i want to say thanks again for all the help i have found here, both when i'm posting and when i'm a looky-loo! i could not have made it this far without it. it helps tremendously to feel less alone!

my DS is 11 months old, & i've managed to provide enough BM exclusively since he was 4 months. often i just scrape by- with just a little in freezer for emergencies. i have had some close calls but have just made it through- & each time i was very surprised to do so! & it turns out he doesn't much care for the taste of my frozen milk- so it's just as well that there isn't a lot.

but now i must start weaning a month earlier than i had planned, and DS is a picky eater. he won't eat many solids and doesn't eat much when he does. i hope to at least keep some BM each day- but know that at least half will have to be formula. i prefer not to mix them.

i know i am worrying in advance, but i fear he is going to turn up his nose at the formula he will have to start drinking soon.

can anyone suggest a formula their picky BM baby enjoyed?

thank you all once again!!!

I don't have any personal experience with it but I did read online in another forum that Similac and Earth's Best taste the most like breastmilk. Sorry I can't remember where I saw it to link you to it!

Hi there, first of all good job on making it to 11months! Wow....I hope I am in your shoes someday lol. I didn't breastfeed my first son at all and had a lot of formula issues until I gave him Similac Organic. He loved it and was fine after that. I have been eping for almost 7 months and I occasionally give him 2 ounces or so of formula just to see how he reacts to it just incase something ever happened and we couldn't get to his milk or my pump malfunctions...etc. Anyways, I have Similac Organic for him too and he absolutely doesn't even notice..I have heard it tastes a lot better than most formulas and it is much sweeter much like breast milk. You could try this. If he is almost one though maybe you could also try a Toddler formula. I have seen them and it looks like they now come in different flavors like vanilla....maybe he might like that too since it is made for older babies and the taste might be a little more pleasant. Hope this might help a little... :)

Great job making it so long! My DS is 10 months and at 8 months I decided to drop an additional pump (from 4 to 3) for some much needed mental health and my supply decreased quite a bit. He did refuse formula. He needs somewhere between 6 and 10 oz of something each day as supplement but formula was a no go and just like your LO he isn't too into solids. After trying every formula of every type ever made, I ended up using goat's milk. I called his Dr to check first and he said it was fine. Apparently there is a small chance of some type of anemia if babies are fed only goat's milk, but if used as a supplement there's nothing to worry about. He didn't love it at first, but he would take it and now he seems to like it just as much.

This may be too late for a reply but my girls finally ended up taking Enfamil Gentlease. It was more about being persistent with it than anything else. I had them taste some every morning before BMilk until a week later they were fine just drinking the formula. It digests easily and they are very happy on it, unlike many others I tried.

I am sure this reply is too late for the original post, but maybe it can help other people.
