Hi there ~ I posted this as a reply in another discussion, but it kind of got lost there, so I thought I would start my own thread. I also posted on the W&P board to get more input. Sorry if this is a repeat for you.

I haven't even started weaning yet and I'm already dreading seeing the number of ounces dwindle each day, since each day for 9 mos has been a struggle to keep up with LO. My plan has been to be done pumping by Christmas (I'm EPing now). My question for you all is : Should I have started cutting back already? How long does it take to wean off the pump? I keep telling myself I'm going to do it, but I don't want to start too early either.

Here's a good laugh for you. ;-)

Well I can tell you my experience.. I thought weaning was going to be difficult but for my surprise I am drying pretty fast! My supply was ok.. I was down to 4 pumps making between 20 to 22 oz.. then I dropped to 3 making about 19 to 20 and after that I decided to wean so I started spacing them out as much as I could.. I got some clogs but I was able to unclog them pretty quick and also pumping less time..

Now my right bb is almost dry... but my lefty it's getting kind of full after 12 hours.. that's how much I can go now without pumping right now ... It's amazing how the body and mind works..
and the supply just starts to dissapear..

Oh and I am currently pumping between 20 to 30 minutes ;-) or less depending how they feel..

Thanks for your reply :-)

How long did it take you to get where you are now?

Currently each of my 5 pumps I pump for 30minutes. I've always had to do it for that long to get one last letdown and have enough for my LO. I figure I can start by cutting back to 20minutes per pump, one pump at a time and then spacing them out a bit more so I am down to 4 pumps. Then maybe cut back to 15 min, etc.

I'm really hoping it won't take me

hey i cant help you with this one but i too have decided to wean and i started yesterday, i fly off to see my family on the 22 so really want to be dry by then or at least able to just bring a manual pump with me to use occasionally rather than dragging the lactina with me. i feel so eager to stop pumping infact im stopping because iv started getting really down and emotional like i just cant control myself all i do is get angry and then cry because i cant do anything for my son. he is so beautiful and i cant even care for him because iv been using all my time pumping. so iv decided that i finally feel like being his mummy

Hi There ~ I got some info on the pump weaning schedules of others in another thread (http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-ppexcluspump&msg=29551.1&ctx=0). From this I created my own weaning plan which I

Well, I'm finally at the end. The last time I pumped was almost 48hrs ago. I feel like there is definitely still some milk being produced, but I'm not engorged, just a bit achy. I keep wanting to pump
