I am in the process of weaning and wanted to know the best way to transition to formula. Do you do 1/2 BM and 1/2 formula? Or just 1 bottle formula or 1 BM. Want to go easy on his tummy!

I think either way that you have suggested will work well, and that the key is just not going straight to 100% formula if you can help it.

I tried the mixing with breastmilk for my twins. They wouldn't have it and I was throwing away so much breastmilk since it's ruined by the formula, it was upsetting. So I went another way. Every morning, when they are hungriest, I offered them a little straight formula heated the same as their milk first. They hated it at the beginning. But every day I did that, with their breastmilk bottles ready to go on the side. By one week they were drinking straight formula for morning meals! And that gave me more breastmilk to freeze as i plan to give them at least one bottle of that a day until it runs out. :-)
I tried almost every brand when mixing it with my milk, hoping for magic. We use Enfamil gentlease now. It
is less smelly than other brands. And I know it is gentle because their poop is still normal like breastmilk poop. Unlike other brands that gave them green and varied textures.
Hope that helps! Stick with it and be patient, it will work out!

Hi! I started to mix them. Went from starting with just 1 oz of formula and then increased it from there each week. Now she's taking straight formula with no problems. I also tried to make sure it was room temperature since that seemed to be the way she took it the best. Good luck!
