My daughter was born 12 weeks early and spent 9 1/2 weeks in the NICU. She has been home now for 4 weeks and when she is not sleeping or being rocked to sleep, she is screaming. She has reflux and is on Zantac. This has helped her because before that she would not even sleep an hour at night!

My Katie was born 9 weeks early and also had reflux and a demanding personality.

Her Zantac was just adjusted this week so I hope that helps.

I agree. Reflux is for the birds! ...tho, they can't burp, so it really would be an ugly instance if a bird had reflux...but I digress....

It can be a few days before you'll see any improvement from the Zantac dosage change. In the future, you may want to see if you can stop in at the ped or a local clinic to get her weighed every 3-4 weeks and have them work out the new dosage from that. You don't have to get a new script every time the dosage is changed, but make sure they do give you a prescription with the new dosage because you'll go through the current bottle faster with the upped dosage. Sounds like common sense, but it's something that is really easy to over look.

Just an FYI, sitting can actually put pressure on the belly which can cause more pain from the reflux. Alot of reflux babies don't like to be in their car seats because of this. Do you use some sort of baby carrier at all? If not, I totally recommend one! I used a sling called a maya wrap. I loved it. I could put my daughter in different positions with it AND as an added plus, if I had her in the sling while we were at a store, people didn't touch her or get too close which was really important especially this time of year.

I hope she starts feeling better...and I hope Mama gets some rest!
