Is anyone making/planning to make homemade baby food?

Wait until 6 months. Skip cereals altogether. It's empty calories. Start with veggies and fruits. Let baby eat as much as s/he wants to in a sitting.

Squash is super easy. You cut it in half, scoop the seeds out, over each half with saran wrap and microwave it for a few minutes (until fork tender). Then you scoop out the "meat' mix it was a little water, if needed, and serve.

Bananas don't have to be squashed. They conveniently separate into thirds. Break those thirds into little bite sized pieces and let baby practice the pincer grab.

Oh, and freeze the made up food in ice cube trays. Those hold 1oz of food and you'll have a good idea on how much your baby is eating.

Great tips, Julianna! I also used ice cube trays to freeze the food. It was so easy to just grab a cube or two and defrost. Did you use any other gear to make the food? Most of what I made was done in a regular food processor but I know there is specific gear on the market just for making baby food.

Nope, just the Cuisinart. I had a grinder, but never used it.

This is a great thread! I plan to make all of Aria's food from home so I'll be sure to come back here when we begin that adventure!
