Solids question

Hi!

I am new to this board. I have a 6 mo DD who is EBF.

I am starting to introduce solids and she is not liking them at all! I started with oatmeal and when that was not a hit (after about 2 weeks), I have slowly started trying to introduce veggies/fruit. I don;t know if it is a texture thing or what, but she is NOT having it. I added breast milk to them, I made them slightly thicker... Nothing seems to make her want them.

I am not concerned about weight or anything and am not really in a rush since I do plan to nurse as long as she wants to, but I do want to start introducing some solids.

Just wondering if anyone had any advice... Should I stop all together and wait a few weeks? Or keep trying slowly? We;ve been doing it for about 4 weeks now. I am making my own baby food.

Her weight gain is fine (90th percentile!) and she is otherwise happy/healthy. She seems really interested in our food (watching us eat, trying to grab things off our plates, holding her bottle when the babysitter is here and I am working)...

Any thoughts/insight appreciated!!

Thanks!

Hi Kara,

Welcome to the board!  I think if it were me, I'd probably take a little break from the solid foods for a bit.  She is still young so you have a lot of time to continue trying.  I think I'd probably give it a month or so and then slowly introduce them again.  Since she wasn't a fan of the oatmeal, perhaps try with a veggie or fruit first?  I made all of my baby food at home for my son and we started with avacado.  He loved it!  Good luck deciding on the best course of action for you all.  Let us know how it is going!

Congrats on your baby and being able to keeo her EBF ( my son would have none of it after 5 months). It seems like she's doing all the things that interested babies do when they want food (my son actually pulled food off our plates and tried to eat it). Did you try feeding her while you're eating? She probably needs to equate the food she's eating with food you're eating at the times you normally eat at.

Good luck! And if she still doesn't want it, don't worry. She'll let you know when she's ready.
