Few things can make a parent feel as helpless as when your toddler wakes up in the middle of the night sobbing in pain from an earache. Ear infections are the number one reason kids visit their pediatrician and the number one reason kids are prescribed antibiotics. But if you understand the signs and symptoms of an ear infection and how to treat it, you'll be able to make your child feel better faster. Here's what you need to know:

Ear infections are the worst!  My two oldest boys were prone to them and had way too many.  Has your baby had an ear infection yet?  If so, how did you treat it?

Thank you for posting this.  We have not had to deal with an ear infection yet, but I'm really worried that I will know it is an infection when the time comes.  The thought of baby girl being in so much pain is really upsetting!

My LO is five months old and recently came down with RSV and I have been terrified of the dreaded post-cold ear infection! I was plagued with them as a child. My DH however has never had one and even more surprising only has taken an antibiotic once in 26 years! Our pediatrician says its all in the shape of your head and thus how the ears drain (or don't drain). Knock on wood, 3 weeks later and no sign of ear trouble. One option I've found is on chiropractic care for babies and how it can help with coilc to ear infections. Baby Jack has been to the chiropractor regularly since week three. She focuses on reshaping his cranial bones every time. He LOVES it, even if we never have solid proof that alone is good enough for us.
