My DS is 6 months old and he still doesn't turn towards sound. I know he can hear because he will startle when there is a loud sound or when I turn on the water in the tub.

Hi there,

Welcome to the board! I'm sorry you are feeling so much anxiety of your son and his ability to hear. It can be very worrisome when something just doesn't seem right.

I think it is a very good sign that he passed his hearing test and that you voiced your concerns to your doctor and he said they'll be keeping an eye on things. Did they do that test right in the pediatrician's office or were you referred to a specialist for the hearing test? If you have not been referred to a specialist and you still have deep concerns, I don't think it is too much to ask for a referral.

Chances are that things are just fine! There is a lot to take in at this age and it sounds like your son is developmentally doing really well. Hang in there and please let us know what you decide to do and how things are going.

You said your daughter had some delays, maybe your son does, too. It will probably take some time and he'll catch up.

If there is something else going on you really won't be able to know until age 3 or so. Up until then most any development is considered "normal".

But make sure your ped knows your concerns and you both can keep an eye on things.
