is this separation anxiety?

Hi all,

I'm Michelle and I have 10 month old fraternal girl twins and a 5 year old boy. One of my twins recently started getting very upset when she isn't being held. If I hold her she's happy and playful, but as soon as I put her down she becomes inconsolable. Yesterday she cried so hard I thought she might hyperventilate. Obviously I can't hold her constantly so sometimes I have to let her cry. she will cry until she exhausts herself and falls asleep.

She's always been a cuddlebug, but would self soothe after a few minutes. This constant crying started about a week ago. I'm not sure if it's separation anxiety because she does it at home as well as daycare.

Does anyone have any ideas?

that does sound like it. Piper got it pretty bad right around 10 months also.

unfortunately lots of hugs and crying is the only thing that you can do until it passes. that article Kristi posted was great. hope you can find some other ideas or at least a happy frame of mind with it:)

I did find that if I had to leave the room and she couldn't get to me, like the kitchen that is gated off, as long as i talked to her CONSTANTLY (i sounded like a loon just babbling on and on narratinf what i was doing lol) that after a day or two she learned I didn't just disapear when she couldn't see me and i would come back.

also, if i just said bye bye and didn';t make a huge deal about leaving and coming back she did better. (*I* was bawling my eyes out as soon as i got out the door b/c she was crying ) but she did ok after a few.

I hope you find some relief. it can be so stressful!
