My DD is only 8 months old and she's my first but I'm hoping to phase the binky out by 2 years old or a little later. She started out as an EP baby then went to the breast later so she's not much of a comfort nurser. Definitely I'd like to limit binkies to nap and bedtime by about 2 years old. Only time will tell if DD will be fine with that :-)
thankfully neither of mine ever really took to one. I kept the emergency one in my bag to pop in their mouths in long grocery lines and other crises times:)
I really try not to judge(too much) , but the 5 year olds walking around with them seems a touch excessive
I know this is a little off topic but I have a two month old and he doesn't seem to take a binky at all since he was born but lately before he sleeps or takes a nap he needs something to suck and soothe so I end up having to stand there at his crib holding a binky on his mouth. Anything I can do to make him do it on his own because I also have a 16 month old son too. I know many people feel its good to have a baby that doesn't take a binky but sometimes we just need our babies to take it for a while when we are waiting in line etc.. Advice? Thanks :)
At two months that's about all you can do. He's not used to keeping a paci in his mouth, and not old enough to figure out how to get it back into his mouth. Give him some time and he'll learn to keep it in.
Both my kids were binkie babies. They were very attached. But getting rid of them slowly like we did wasn't too hard.
