2 pumps vs 3...

So how much do you think it would mess up my supply to drop a pumping sesion already...? Garrett is only 4 months old but I am easily getting 20oz a day at work and he only drhinks 6 - 9oz a day when I am gone. I can't remember when I dropped from 3 to 2 sessions last time I was W&P! I nurse him right before I leave the house at 7am so if i pumped at 10 and then 1 and then i got home at 430 to nurse that would be about 3 - 3 1/2 hours between sessions.

Thanks for the thoughts! Yes I do have a good freezer stash... well over 200oz already!! I'm going to give it a trial run this week and see what happens... i can always add the third pump back in if I find i'm not getting enough anymore. =)

I went back to work full time at 13 weeks pp and never pumped more than 2x a day, unless I had a long day or late meeting. I had about 200 oz in my freezer when I returned to work and ended up donating some before it went bad because I failed to rotate my stash. My guess is that, if your production is generally good (or you have oversupply like I had), you will be fine dropping to 2 pumps.

As a rule for the average mom, I think 3 pumps is better for production.

BUT in individual cases, like yours, 2 may make more sense. I assume you're freezing a good amount of milk, so should you find that dropping a pump causes issues, you've got a back up stash to cover you while you transition back.

Confession: I worked shorter days (generally 6 hours) while W&P and usually only pumped once at work.
