Formal Introduction

Hi! My name is Meredith. I've been lurking and even posted once, but I thought I would give a formal introduction.

My dd, Sydney was born on 10-31-02 - my Halloween baby! I've been working and pumping three days a week since Jan (worked at home the remaining two days, so I was able to bf). This week I start back in the office five days - more working and pumping! I would like to bf/pump until Sydney is a year old and then if she/I still want to we'll go from there. I use a Medela PIS with a hands-free attachment and I absolutely love it!

I'm looking forward to meeting the great women on this board.

Welcome Mere!

I absolutely LOVE Halloween! If I had to pick a holiday for my baby to be born, it would be Halloween, instead I got an Apirl Fool's baby (LOL).

You will definitely enjoy being here. The women are fabulous!

Hi Mere,

I recognize you from the Oct Playgroup. Hope you enjoy this board! I would love to hear about how you do with handsfree PIS pumping - I haven't tried it yet but I keep thinking about it.

Hi Meredith,

I have a 5 weeks old daughter and I'm returning to work on the 14th of this month. I just got a Medela Double Ease pump yesterday. I have not tried it out yet, but will definitely need to start before the weekend is out.

I saw a lactation nurse and she went off on how it doesn't hurt and not a problem at all. I tried to use an Evenflo when on the 1st week after her birth and I nearly died. After 1 hour of expressing...I got maybe 1 oz. I hurt so bad and my poor nipple...not alone my breasts. Some of my friends said that my engorement was purely muscle & tissues and not milk.

Do you have any tips on the before pumping or "just dive into it"?
