He wants more!

I started back to work Monday, and my husband is keeping our 8 week old. I felt very accomplished making it through my first full day of pumping and feel like it will be tough but I can do it!

But Ben is seeming to want to drink more than it seems he should, more like 4 oz every three hours and I'm hoping that doesn't increase too much because I worry I won't keep up. Here's my schedule so far... thoughts on how to make sure he's getting the right amount and I'm pumping enough/right timing to keep up with him will be appreciated!

It goes something like this...
7am nurse
8am pump in car on way to work (got about 4-5 oz each time)
11am pump in office (about 5-6 oz)
2pm pump in office (about 4-5 oz)
5pm pump in office
5:30 head home (45 min drive)
6:30 nurse
9:30 nurse
1:30 nurse
4am nurse

I'd love to ideally only do two sessions at work plus during the drive each way so I'd like to space them out a bit more and pump about 11:30 and 3:00 and those be the only office times, but I'm nervous that if I pump on the way home I won't be able to satisfy him when I nurse shortly after getting home.

Thoughts? Thanks!

First of all, I have to stop and say THANK YOU- this first week back is so incredibly tough on many levels, and being able to pump and provide my baby the healthiest thing possible makes it easier- having your suggestions, comments, encouragement on posts I can read (including my own) make that so much easier- plus you helped me with preparing for this. I can't say thanks enough. That being said, I'll probably keep bugging you through this year! :)

So... the past few days I've pumped 16-18 ounces total, and he's eating about 14. I guess that's good enough for now, and if he starts outpacing me we should be close to time to start solids and start stretching BM hopefully.

Spencer gave you just about everything I could think of, the only other thought I had was if you are worried about nursing him once you are home and pumping on the way home, you could just single pump one side and then feed him from the opposite side when you get home.

That makes sense! Especially since I'd still have enough for the next day... thanks for the input :)

You're very welcome!!

Even though I joined this board at the end of W&P for my DD, I have learned a lot from all the moms passing through, and I do try to pass it along!
