I'm getting sick of pumping!

Hi :) Maybe I'm just having a case of the 'Monday's... but I feel like lately I've been getting sick of pumping.

I've almost posted this now about 4 times - but then decided not to. I don't know that I'm so sick of it that I want to reduce pumps or quit - so I guess I just needed to vent.

Jack will be 8 months old next Tuesday. I'm still pumping twice at work (at 9:15 and 12:15) and I'm here from 7:30 to 3:00. We really nurse on demand in the evenings which equates to about 3 times usually at 3:30, 5:00 and 7:00 (bedtime). Then a few times throughout the night too. We gave up sleep training and he's spending part of the night in our bed - probably nursing 3 or 4 times between bedtime and I leave for work.

The nursing is really still going great for the most part - and in the evenings he's usually happy to nurse I think because he's 'missed' me. But I have to be creative where and when we nurse. It has to be quite and distraction free enough that he can focus - but it also can't be anywhere where he nurses and falls asleep unless it's nap time or he won't nurse. If he's not tired and I try to nurse him in the recliner - he won't have any part of it. He's really equated nursing with going to sleep. This Saturday - I actually had to pump once during the day because we were going out and about and he wouldn't nurse before we left and I knew it would be hard to get him to focus and eat once we were out and about. I don't think he's trying to wean (but I really don't know since I don't know about this stuff) but during the day he really does seem to prefer the bottle or sippy cup sometimes.

If it's awake time - he would much prefer the milk in the sippy cup or bottle - but in the evenings or overnight I know he would need to nurse.

I don't know where I'm really going with all this - I guess I'm babbling! But any advice?

Part of me has wondered if I could get away with just one pump around 11:30. If that would help at all. But then part of me feels like I'm just going to have to start adding in more weekend and afternoon pumps when he doesn't want to nurse.

During my 2 day pumps I get about 13-15oz most days. Usually between 7-10 on the first session and 5-6 at the second. Any chance I could get a solid 10 if I just went to 1 session? I currently still have probably 600oz in my deep freezer.

Thanks for listening. Kim

Thanks guys!

I think more than being sick of pumping - I'm just more exhausted from getting up constantly with Jack during the night.

He just doesn't seem to sleep well and I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. This has been going on for SO long now!

Here was our night last night - any suggestions? Thanks :)

7:15 in bed

8:20 awake, rocked, cried, nursed, back in bed @ 8:30

9:30 awake brought into bed and nursed to sleep

12:45 woke and nursed back to sleep still in bed

1:50 woke. Tried to settle. Rocked then in crib @ 2:07

3:35 awake again nursed rocked back in crib @ 3:50

4:00 awake - patted but back to sleep in crib

4:30 awake again tried to rock. Awake again. Tried to nurse in bed too 4:50 put in bed with toy. Wide awake.

5:00 up

Madison is about a week younger than Jack and hasn't even started getting teeth yet.

Unfortunately I don't have any great suggestions on the sleep problem ... my DD woke up frequently until I night weaned her at 2.
