Pumping Questions

Hi Ladies. I have a 5 week old son and I went back to work on Monday. I brought my PIS and pumped twice while I was there (every 3 hours). I work in a restaurant so I'm not there for very long. I nurse on demand during the day. At work, I was able to get about 3 oz. from each of these sessions for the first three days. On day 4 I pumped three hours after nursing and only got about 2 oz. Yesterday morning I pumped after the first feed and got about 3 oz. Today, I pumped again in the morning and barely got 1.5 oz. I'm not worried about supply because I can manually express more milk. So I think I'm having issues with the pump.

I don't know if I'm just having trouble relaxing (which I don't think is the problem because, again, if I turn the pump off, I can express milk) or if I have the wrong size breastshields, or there's a suction problem.

Any advice would be really helpful!

Well, I was more successful pumping later that day than that morning. I still think I would benefit from a smaller flange. I feel like I'm able to hand express a lot of milk after I pump.

I definitely could pump more at home, but I'm not really worried about supply. I think that I make plenty of milk. I'm more worried about the pump being more efficient. I know it's never going to be as good as the baby, but I feel like it could be better than what it is. And I don't really need A TON of milk for when I'm at work since I'm not really away for that long most days.

Thanks for your help! I'm going to order new flanges and see if that helps! If not, I'll be back picking your brain! :)
