This is my second time around working and pumping and you would think I would remember being that it has only been 2 yrs but nope. Baby will be 7 weeks, how much should I leave my care provider? Also I go into work at 7:50 am and leave at 2:50. What would a good schedule be? I would leave my home at 6:45 a.m. and my commute is about 30 minutes! Thank you so much in advance!!! HELP!Laughing

Ok, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner - the mobile app wasn't working right so I couldn't see any replies!

I know you've gone back to work already ... I hope that you're doing ok!

Rule of thumb is pump every 3 hours.  So if you pumped/fed at 6:30, then you could pump at 9:30 and 12:30, and then when you get home around 3:30 you would nurse again.

Another rule of thumb is about an oz an hour.  So if you're separated about 9 hours, then 10-12 oz should be *plenty* and hopefully baby will need more like 7-8 oz (since you'd want to feed right before leaving in the am).  Keep bottle sizes relatively small - 2.5-3 oz to start.  Better to feed small amounts more frequently.

I found my macros saved on my laptop, YAY, so here are some links that may help.

Hi, no worries. I hope I didn't mess up. I have been nursing him at 5 am before I go and leave 4 -4oz. bottles. He only has three and the last feeding I get home and nurse him. I have been pumping at 8:30, 11;30, and 2:30. I leave four just to be on the safe side but so far he hasn't needed it and I ask my mom to hold off is she knows it is close to me getting home. Should I make smaller bottles or just leave it be? Thanks so much. Funny story, was at Wal-mart and needed to do the third pump, so I sat in the parking lot pumping away. The things we do for our babies, lol!

is he taking all 4 oz? I think you could potentially cut them back to 3.5 oz, and do 3 that size and maybe a 2-2.5 oz bottle for emergencies. Since your mom is taking care of him, you could also leave a couple frozen bags for a growth spurt day. You're doing great! I've never pumped in a parking lot, but I certainly would have done so if I were caught and needed to! You're right, we do what we gotta do ;)
