Hi all, so after close to 5 months at home, I started work yesterday. ugh. work is okay and just as I left it, but I so wish I was at home with snuggling with my little girl. To make matters worse, I live in a very warm climate but it was actually perfect snuggle weather this morning and I would have relished the chance to just nap and snuggle with my little baby all morning.

Anyhow, my plan was to nurse in the morning right before work. come home for lunch and nurse. then nurse when Ig et home from work. In between, my

Hm I think you'll be ok. I went to a playoff football game when my DD was 4 months old needless to say I didn't pump or nurse for 7 hours (yeah it was painful but no where to pump in December in a professional football stadium) my supply was fine I just had to pump/ nurse extra when I got home more for comfort than anything else. If it'll make u feel better to throw in an extra pump I don't think you'll hurt anything but one missed pump at 5 months is very unlikely to ruin your supply. Good luck going back to work I'm 12 months back and I'm still missin my LO just as much Lol

sorcet, thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear you're still missing your LO just as much. I was actually thiking of posting a "does it get better?" post. With my first, I was home with her for a year and I think by the time I started working, I was really ready for the outside stimulation, but I'm so not ready now. I can't complain because I got a good 5 months with my baby girl, but I feel like I am giving her up at my absolute favorite time when she starts being more fun.

Very true some girls at my work come back voluntarily at 6 weeks I can't even imagine doing that ! I'm lucky that I work only 2 nights a week but it still isn't easy

Congrats on making it through your first couple days of work! I now have a job where I can't post during the day, I'm crazy busy, so sorry I couldn't respond earlier. I think you'll have overall better pumping success if you pump at (approx) scheduled times while at work, e.g. Mid morning and mid afternoon, as opposed to trying to time it to DD's bottles. As far as the missed pump, one missed session isn't going to be the end of the world. I'd be sure to nurse a lot today, and potentially pump if you are short for tomorrow's bottles.

Do you have an extra set of pump parts? That may help prevent the missing part dilemma the next time.

And I promise, it does get easier. You may not be thrilled to leave DD each morning, but it won't be as hard with time.
