sterilizing parts?

I have always been a neurotic sterilizer. I sterilized pumping parts and bottles (washing with soapy water and using a bottle sterilizer) for DS #1 all through the first year, though I think it was probably overkill.

DS #2 is 8 months old. I am going on vacation for a week and will be pumping once a day to keep up supply. Can I get away with just hand washing pump parts and bottles in soapy water at this point, or do I need to drag the bulky sterilizer with me?

I think it is ok, but want to be sure.

TIA!

In the absence of an infection like mastitis or thrush, I don't think it's necessary to sterilize frequently.

Of course- I even have a few of those microwave bags tucked away in my pump bag. My compulsive side will love having them for a periodic cleaning.

I know how ridiculous it is to worry about this- who knows what he chews on at daycare all day!

Thanks!
