We went to our annual appointment last week and it went great! Emily had grown an inch since last time, which was only 2-1/2 months ago and she got braces, so she didn't eat for a week so we expected her BMI to go down, but it actually went up 3 percentiles! She is still less than 50, but everyone was really pleased. Her PFT's were great! Without Albuterol, her FEV1 was 95 and with Albuterol it was 100! I hope we can keep them up!
We didn't get a CT scan. In fact, we haven't had a picture of her lungs for probably 4 years. They didn't suggest one even, which was good because my dh wouldn't have let them do one anyway. I guess there have been studies that CT scans in kids increases their risk of certain types of cancer (I think leukemia - but I can't remember what he told me). His opinion is that she is obviously doing really well, we are already doing everything we can for her and with the advancements being made, he doesn't want to add any risk for other health problems. What about everyone else? Do you get regular x-rays or CT scans? I'm not really sure what the norm is.
