Now that we have our folders, I was thinking maybe we could try the member of the week. We could put it under Girl Talk

What do you think?

Because of the events of last week I wasn't able to research other boards for ideas. I would like to start it soon. Let me see what I can get done today. Laundry day.

I was thinking of putting myself on the chopping block first, any volunteers for being one of the first? I was also thinking when we ran out of mommies, we could have special kid of the week too.

Carol

ps. you posted something about strange things on other boards. more information on what to be carefull of saying would be good.

Carol, I was a MOB on another board some time ago. I think we should only do a handful of questions, because when I was MOB I had to answer something like 20 questions & it was too much I think. I'd like to see an area where members can ask questions of the MOB. Why don't we ask that prior to being the MOB, please update your profile so us gals can get more insight into who you are...and so we can ask follow up questions about information that you've already placed on your profile.

What about simple questions like "Name 3 of your Favorite Movies" Or What are your favorite bands...

Also the questions I answered got a bit personal, not that that's a bad thing, but I guess it sent me into a deep period of introspection...& perhaps I was teetering on the edge already, but..I ended up cutting my waist length hair & seeing a therapist..which ended up being a good thing! THe best thing I've done for myself in years, both the hair & the therapist.

So, maybe stay away from "What do you regret the most?" I guess it would be easier to put a positive spin on questions, instead of the above do..."What are you most proud of accomplishing in your life?" Maybe I'm just stirring the pot..or just mine..those are my thoughts.

Denise--I think that is a great idea. I'm on the One Year Board and they have spotlight mommy of the week. It is fun and makes you feel included.

I also was pondering the message about some of the posts. I have talked about Dh's cancer alot lately. I guess it has kinda of defined me for the last 6 years for me. I hope it is not too bizarre or intimate. Of course, I am a paranoid person-I always think it is me.

Kristi, I think it is inspiring to hear about people who have survived cancer & MIRACLE babies are one of my favorite subjects. Feel free to share anything with us that you are comfortable sharing.

I think that the main thing we are concerned about is avoiding posting information that is too personal, that could leave any of us vulnerable to attack from a stalker (names of our kids schools, specifics about "where" we live, phone numbers or physical address, last names, etc).

Also we don't want to ask questions in our member of the week that are either too personal or of a touchy subject for anybody. I have seen a few boards get a bit too detailed with their member of the week. Like Nancy said "What's your biggest regret?" can be a very loaded question for some people.

As long as we keep our questions light & on the happy side, I think it will be LOTS of fun.

Ahh..I understand perfectly. That clarifies it alot. My cousin is a minister and he asked during children's church "what are you most afraid of?" He learned never to ask that again-way too loaded of a question.

I am trying to come up with 5 basic questions and I can't seem to do it. Any suggestions? Some things I thought of that are not asked on the profile are hobbies? What were you like when you were little? What is your favorite part of being a mother? (maybe too introspective) Pet Peeves? Favorite foods, movies, pass times?

Ok. Maybe I did have some ideas. I'd start on Monday but we are going away for a couple days. I'll be back on Wednesday, 4/16.
