Boys will be boys excuse?

Although I honestly hate this excuse for boys' bad behavior, is there any truth in it?

Connor told me this morning on our way out the door (of course he waits until the last minute), that's he's being bullied in the bus line after school.

This is so hard! I often struggle about when to step in and when to let them figure it out on their own. I say, if it is upsetting Connor, something needs to be done. The boys probably don't even realize that their actions and words are so upsetting to someone else. Perhaps the entire group (or maybe even bus line?) needs a general reminder about being kind to one another and that the same behavior exhibited in the classroom also applies to the bus line.

I talked to the principal today, and she told me that they've been having some issues with the bus line waiting. She's going to talk with the monitor, and also with the teacher who will be out their this week to tell them to keep a closer eye on it. They've been having issues with the 5th grade boys regarding being good sports and such, so I believe that this topic will be coming up again :)

Oh, I'm glad they'll be keeping a close eye on things. I really wonder if boys this age just don't know how much their words and actions can hurt someone else. Hopefully a good reminder will do them all a lot of good.
