How do you feel about going on vacation without your children?

We went on a cruise a couple years ago without the boys. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and it was really nice. I did miss the boys a lot but some of the trip was scary and I wouldn't have taken the boys on it. Just being in a foreign country was scary but also have two rowdies on a ship would scare me! LOL

We also sent the boys to Grammy camp for a week one year. We worked around the house and went to work every day so I didn't consider it much of a vacation.

But, normally, I like them around for vacation.

That's how I feel too, Lisa. I keep reading that your spouse should be your #1 priority, even before your children. I think it is a good point. If we don't make sure our relationship is strong, our family won't be strong.

Anyway, I don't know if or when we will ever get away together, but it is something I'd really like to do. Hard part is finding someone to keep an eye on the boys while we are gone!

Laura, I am forever counting ahead to see how many summers I think we will still entice Ben to join family vacations. It's scary how few could be left! We have a long standing plan with another couple to do an Alaskan cruise for our 25th Anniversary (we met them on our honeymoon cruise and we share an anniversary). That will prob be our next opportunity for a couple only trip and that's if things work out as planned.

One thing DH and I have promised we would do when he comes home is take at least one evening a month for ourselves as a couple. Even if it is a walk in the park while the big boys watch Than. It doesn't have to cost us anything to take a couple hours for us.

Try just taking an evening and go walk in the park or get a cup of coffee. I totally understand about the childcare situation getting in the way. Hope you can find a way to carve out couple time.

I've always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise -- what
