I am constantly reminding the older boys to do things...

Brush your teeth

Put your dirty clothes in the hamper

Put on deodorant

Your shoes don't belong there

Hang up your coat

Does this sound familiar? Do your boys do this or am I the only mom going crazy?

Sounds very familiar! I have started posting lists of things that need to be done in various places they can't miss. The "brush your teeth, deoderant, hamper" issues taped to the toilet lid.........."empty the DW, feed the dog, clean the litterpans, etc" posted on the fridge door right at the handle at eye level in BIG letters, a list left in the middle of the dining room table of chores and things that should be done before bed.

They have gotten alot better crossing things off the list and doing things in their own order than listening to me nag them all the time. It is alot more pleasant for me too. We have consequences (loss of electronics for a day for example) if things aren't done by bedtime. Usually a quick "did you finish your list?" is enough of a reminder.

Hope you find something that works for you!

Depends on the child and day, but yes, I'm doing a lot of these same reminders. I've started to do a warning system in the morning because they seem to be getting very distracted with playing and don't want to get ready for school.

Great idea, Lisa! I may give this a try and see how it goes. Hopefully it will save my sanity a bit. :)

It started because I have a sitter her 2-3 nights a week now that DH is gone. I wanted to make sure that things were in writing so the kids didn't try to give her a hard time or try to say they didn't have things to do. It's worked so well, I started doing it on the days I'm home. So far, so good......................I hope it works for you!
