I just read an interesting article on a topic that I don't think is discussed much, how boys have it harder than people realize.

Thanks for posting this! I wonder- do you all read things about giving girls more self-esteem, etc. but wonder why you don't read things like that about boys too? I just think that no matter the sex of the child, there are different issues to address during their childhood. I don't think any blanket statement of one sex being easier than another can be right.

Melissa- I also worry about how I am doing raising decent men. Sometimes I sit back and think that I'm totally failing. However, I think that the simple fact that we worry about these things says a lot. We are aware of what kind of men we want them to be and I think that has to show through in our parenting. KWIM?

Totally agree that all the emphasis is on boosting up girls, while the boys are left in the dust sometimes. I think we are getting to the point that there needs to be more equality in what we teach our children.

I do agree with what you are saying that because we worry, it means we are probably doing a decent job. It's sad that so many boys (and girls) don't have supportive, caring parents.

I agree that there are challenges to raising children of either gender and that boys' self esteem is at just as much risk as girls'.

Oh, and by the way, I think you are both doing an awesome job with your boys!

I don't think any child is easy to raise, regardless of gender.
