When did/will your boys start driving?  What were the rules you put into place before they were able to take drivers ed?

I did the same with my daughter... nothing comes for free.

Lucas got his driver's license right on his 17th b'day, and so far so good.  Driver's Ed is mandatory for sophomores in our school, so Alex will be taking it this year.  Once he turns 16 he needs to take 6 hours of lessons with a driving school, and then he will get his learner's permit.  At 17 he can take the road test and get his license.  They get a provisional license here for the first year, meaning they can only have one passenger in the car who has less than 3 years of driving experience and cannot drive between certain hours.

Actully, ds started drivers ed this semester.  Drivers ed is a graduation requirement for the state of Illinois, even when I was in school 30 years ago.  One thing that has to be done is the kids have to stay on the honor's role. for the discout on insurance.  Dd had no issues driving, yet.  I hope ds is as good as she has been!!  I constantly remind them that they have the ability to hurt and kill someone, destroy a person or a whole family while driving and to take it very seriously.  Ds is actually nervous about driving, but is doing well.

I think Devin is pretty close to being able to take drivers ed, but we are making him wait. He needs to keep up his grades this year before he gains that privilege. He needs something to motivate him!
