This joke just popped into my head on April 1 morning. DH, the boys, and I were sitting in the family room just visiting and getting geared up for the day. It was the second day of spring break. The furnace man had just left after checking the furnace. I caught my DH's eye, winked and said:
"Hey, Hon. Did you hear the furnace man say he heard Chelsea has cancelled spring break?"
"Yes, I did," DH said going along with the joke.
"I guess you better get dressed for school then, boys, and I'll drive you in." I said.
Their reaction was heartbreaking. They both clouded up and began storming all over the place (crying). I immediately said I was kidding, that it was just an April Fool's Day joke. It took a while for them to settle down.
DH was laughing but I was devastated. I never expected that reaction.
I said to my DH later, "That says alot about how badly the boys need this break from school.
Later my DH teased me that my prank will cost the boys years of therapy.
I still feel TERRIBLE about it!!!
