Monday's here! How was your weekend? What's going on for you this week?
I'm hoping. I checked our policy and we are covered for sewage back-up, so I don't see why they wouldn't give us something. We're not looking to do anything fancy down there. I wonder how long everything will take, though, since I can only imagine how inundated the insurance companies must be. They haven't come yet to tarp the roof so I may have dh give the guys a call. I'm going to go to the store in a bit and pick up a few things in case we lose power again with this noreaster. Yesterday it looked like they were carrying D batteries again, so I'd like to get some of those for our flashlights. At least things are beginning for feel more normal around here. The gas lines are much, much shorter, most places seem to have power back, and I was able to get to the bank and the mall with no detours. I can only imagine, though, that things feel much less "normal" in the harder hit areas of NJ and NY. There are so many people without homes. I can't even imagine that.
Oh, good. I'm so glad the tree is gone. The news reports I keep seeing are saying that winds could reach 50mph with the next storm. Thank goodness it is gone! Sorry about your flooring- hopefully the insurance company will pay for the new flooring soon.
Thanks, Kristy. I'm happy to say the tree company came a day early, and our tree is gone!!!!! They have a little work left to do another day, but the danger has been removed, which is a huge relief! Now we're trying to get someone out to tarp the damaged areas of the roof so that we don't get rain in if the storm does come. This whole thing is so time-consuming, and we don't even have remotely the amount of damage some people do. There is a house in town that had a tree come right through the roof into the house. I think that house has to be knocked down. It's awful.
As far as the basement goes, dh is going to rip the floor up down to the concrete. Then hopefully the insurance will cover a replacement floor.
Our weekend was fairly quiet. I went to WW on Saturday and a craft bizaar with my mom. The rest of the weekend was spent at home with my crazy boys!
This week is fairly busy. Jacob has speech today, trombone lessons tomorrow. My class was cancelled for tomorrow so that we can vote. We have our first movie night for the PTA on Friday night. Lots of homework to do too!
Oh, no! That sounds like a total nightmare. UGH! What will they do when they pull up the flooring (do I want to know?!)? I hope it is fixed soon and that tree is removed soon. I saw the news report about the storm headed that way. Hopefully it will pass you all by.
Well, our weekend was pretty stinky. Literally. We discovered a sewage backup in our basement which had probably been going on for days. Sigh. Dh and the boys ripped up the carpet and dh is in the process of ripping up the floor itself. It's quite a mess. On a brighter note, we celebrated dh's b'day Saturday by going out to dinner, which was nice. We didn't have fencing on Sunday b/c the studio is still without power.
This week we are finally back to school today. It is only a half-day today and then tomorrow we are off for Election Day. I presume the rest of the week will be full days. I don't know when I'll get back to my second job, as they still haven't restored power to a lot of that area. I'm hoping it will be some time this week. Today we also have to see about a rental car if anything is available and try to get gas somewhere if we are able. Tomorrow the tree company is hopefully coming to clear the tree that fell and take down the remainder of the tree which is hanging over our house. I really hope they come because there is supposed to be another storm coming later in the week, and I am really afraid the rest of the tree will fall right on our house and do a lot more damage than we already have. The insurance appraiser is coming out Wednesday to assess the damage. They will also be coming later in the week to tow the car away assuming we get the tree off of it by then. The fun never ends!
